I'm starting a new album of classical music. This is the first song, Fanfare for the Common Man written by Aaron Copland in 1942 for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, who commissioned the work. It was premiered in 1943. It was inspired in part by a speech made earlier that year by then American Vice President Henry A. Wallace, in which Wallace proclaimed the dawning of the "Century of the Common Man". The piece is straightforward and uncomplicated, yet projects power, passion and eloquence. It is a wonderful tribute to the American spirit.
